The Howling Moon Tourer Roof Top Tent is in a class of its own. Built for the world’s harshest conditions, but designed for your comfort. Featuring doors on each end and windows on each side, access and ventilation is a breeze. The large doors have a full-length zipper and can roll up and secure with stickand-loop fasteners. The windows have both bug mesh and canvas, which can be removed separately or together. The canvas tent fabric is not secured to the base with rivets, but by means of aluminum extrusion, which means that the fabric can be removed at will from the baseboard. The baseboard features the best strength-to-weight ratio available, and will never warp, crack or dry. Howling Moon also features the thickest mattress on the market, for your comfort in the outdoors. The extended body of the tent provides both cover for the ladder for access to the tent in inclement weather and allows for attachment of the optional annex. The annex provides over 50 sq. ft. of enclosed living space under the tent. Unlike our premier competitors, the Howling Moon annex includes a fully-enclosed, built-in PVC floor, which can be completely unzipped for easy cleaning and storage. The Tourer Roof Top Tent includes aluminum ladder, mounting rails, rain fly, travel cover and all poles needed.
Howling Moon is made in South Africa with over 40 years experience in textiles and manufacturing. They pride themselves to be the leaders in the field and strive to be the best in the market.
The Base of the tent
A composite bonded structure exactly the same as Jurgen's caravan side wall construction. The composite construction comprises of a 1 mm aluminium skin on either surface which clads a composite of Pine timber and polystyrene. The construction gives Howling Moon the edge over our competitors as it gives them a super light, super strong base with insulation and thermal retention properties.
Howling Moon only uses the best materials with the highest specifications. The Polyester/ Cotton blend of fabric is woven into a ripstop construction to increase tear and tensile strength. The cotton, a natural fiber, gives a superior thermal and sewing properties, while the Polyester enhances the strength of the fabric. The fabric is pigment coated, giving the end fabric, superior color fastness to light and weathering. The coating gives the fabric its resistance to UV and heat degradation as well as making it exceptionally resistant to fungal attack. Howling Moon specifies a post treatment of fluorocarbon. The coating increases the protection of the fabric to soliage and water ingress through the seams. The fluorocarbon making the fabric exceptionally slippery and promoting water run off and due to this more rapid drying and preventing wetting out of the fabric.
The Design of Howling Moon
Howling Moon has placed major effort into enhancing your experience and making our tents user friendly. The large aperture windows with zip functional windows is an example of this. The side window insect screens can be zip opened to enhance the viewing while lying in your tent or make for a better photograph. The interior storage pockets provide ample secure space for reading glasses, car keys, wallets etc. The 2.75" (70mm) high density mattress used in these Rooftop Tents are far more superior to our competitors, which is so essential in ensuring a peaceful sleep without your hip bottoming out on the base of the tent.
Howling Moon only uses the highest quality material throughout the tent. All materials used in the base and mechanics of the tent are either anodised aluminium or stainless steel. There is no compromise on this specification ensuring that there are no parts in the tent that will either rust of corrode.
The Howling Moon ladder
Our 2 piece slide ladder is infinitely superior to other manufacturers. It is anodised aluminium with "barefoot friendly, non slip" rungs. It is strong in construction and has a rating of 308lbs (140kgs).
